New Year, New You: Great Expectations for 2010 and Beyond! By Linda Sunshine Congratulations! You made it through the holidays, perhaps the most difficult time of the year for anyone who wants to lose weight. Finally, the onslaught of holiday meals, treats, sweets and the stress of dealing with gift-giving and family gatherings are behind you. So, now what? If you are like most people, the arrival of the new year means making resolutions such as these: "I will never eat chocolate again!" "I will lose 50 pounds by Valentine’s Day!" "I will go to the gym every day!" Sound familiar? Most of us are guilty of setting virtually impossible goals for ourselves when our calendars turn to January. While it is always motivating to have a goal in mind, setting an unrealistic goal can be demoralizing, destructive and devastating. A goal that is clearly out of reach is a sure way of setting yourself up for failure. If you have 50 pounds or more to lose, it is completely unrealistic to think you can achieve that goal in a month or two. And, even if you could, you would literally be starving yourself which, as we all know, means gaining back every pound—and then some—in no time at all. This year, why not try something different? How about making resolutions that you can actually achieve? For starters, forget the idea of going on a "diet". We all know that diets do not work. Instead, resolve to change your relationship with food in this brand new decade. You are breaking up with unhealthy food choices and mindless overeating. This is the decade you cancel your lifelong membership in the Clean Plate Club and, instead, educate yourself about portion control and eating the right combinations of food to stoke your metabolism. Your education starts with devoting 21 days to the Food Lover’s Fat Loss System. In just three short weeks, Robert Ferguson can teach you all you will ever need to know about eating the right combinations of your favorite foods in the right portions to lose weight and keep it off forever. Will this happen over night? Certainly not. So make a resolution to be realistic about weight loss. Remember that losing weight slowly and consistently from week to week and month to month is the very best way of keeping it off for good. And most important of all, make a resolution to be patient and kind to yourself. Everyone is different, everyone loses at a different rate and everyone has setbacks! If you eat more than you should one day, do not make that a reason to overeat the next day. Spiraling out of control is no longer an option for you. And, at the start of this wonderful new year, we want to emphasize that you are not alone in your journey. The FLFL system welcomes you into a community of like-minded people—both online and at our call center—who are always there to answer your questions and offer support, encouragement and fellowship. Like most things in life, the FLFL program works best when it is shared with others and we strongly encourage you to share your day-to-day journey with us. We know that if you follow the program, keep your food journal and join our forums, you can succeed, as so many others have already done. Let us help you make 2010 the year that you actually change your body and become the person you always wanted to be. Click Here to Return to the Newsletter |
