I was fed up with diets.

“I have tried many, many programs. I’ve read books. I’ve done Jenny Craig. I’ve done the Atkins Diet. I’ve done the rice diet, the grapefruit diet – many, many approaches, of which all actually were successful as far as losing weight. It was just maintaining that afterwards that was the problem. Once you reach a goal weight, you just tend to go back to your old ways because you can’t eat rice or grapefruit everyday for the rest of your life.

Food Lovers was something I could stick with.

The Food Lovers Program isn’t something that, you reach a goal and then you’re done. You reach a goal, but then you can maintain the goal forever.

With other programs that I have tried in the past, you either have to buy prepackaged meals or stick to a portioning program. It makes dining out very, very difficult. And the cost of prepackaged food program is pretty prohibitive over a period of time. I also was on another program where you eat only protein, no carbs, and it’s just not a practical approach to life. I mean, there’s carbs in your life and it’s something that I enjoy, and I don’t like the idea of giving up something that I enjoy, it
just doesn’t work.

Dieting makes you feel bad; Food Lovers makes you feel good.

The difference in this program from other programs is that you feel so much better. Every day I feel healthier. I have more stamina. My wife and I go on a lot of hikes. I can go up a mountainside that I couldn’t attempt before. It just makes me feel younger and healthier, and if you feel that good then there’s no reason to change anything. And there’s no deprivation on this program anyway. I eat what I want to eat, so there’s no reason to get ‘off’ the program.”
